Sun City is a master planned, age-restricted community from the Del Webb Company in the Western section of Valley. Begun in the nineteen-sixties, it set the pattern for large scale age restricted retirement communities, even championing some of the precepts upon which they are based in the famous lawsuit Spur Industries v. Webb, 494 P.2d 700 (Ariz. 1972). As one of the oldest and largest retirement communities, Sun City is more settled than most with ongoing clubs and activities begun by residents over nearly fifty years. Most hobbies are represented among Sun City's nearly 40,000 residents and people of like interests gather regularly to engage in activities as diverse as archery and antique car collecting.
Sun City contains seven recreation centers, eight golf courses, three country clubs, two bowling centers, a performing arts center and a private lake. It also maintains a volunteer registry and Sun City's residents are the Valley's largest volunteer group, leading to the slogan since 1993, "City of Volunteers." Your Sun City condominium will be restricted to people 55 and over. As a retirement, part-time resident, active adult community it offers few family amenities. It will be in one of the best run and best maintained retirement communities with numerous avenues to maintaining an active fulfilling retirement in condominium convenience.
Sun City is located on Grand Avenue which is Highway 60 and backs onto the Agua Fria section of Loop 101 giving it east access to the valley's freeway system. It is about fifteen minutes from downtown Phoenix and only a few minutes to the new Glendale sports complex, home of the NFL Arizona Cardinals and NHL Phoenix Coyotes.
Sun City condo real estate is for active retirees and snowbirds (winter visitors) near retirement age, it is not family or child oriented. The CondoCompany.com keeps on top of the retirement adult community condo market with it's growing trend toward condominium living. |
