Gold Canyon is located in Pinal County just East of Valley. A former cattle ranch it is an unincorporated area designated officially as Gold Camp, but is generally referred to as Gold Canyon after the original resort that forms it nucleus. Gold Canyon is an adult oriented community of about 6,000 residents. The median age is over 56 years and the percentage of children is very small, enrollment in the schools is only 200 students and no high school exists. Some developments in Gold Canyon are age restricted and condominiums are always available. While many age restricted and oriented areas are by design, Gold Canyon happened around a golf course R.V. resort primarily built for snow birds (winter residents) in condos and RVs. In the winter, when the R.V. spaces and condos are filled Gold Canyon nearly doubles in population and it's seven golf courses all require a tee time.
Your Gold Canyon condominium is almost guaranteed to be restricted to people 55 and over. Gold Canyon is a retirement, part-time resident, active adult community that offers few family amenities. Condominiums in Gold Canyon are relatively new following a trend by baby boomers to retire or make their winter residence in condos rather than trailers and RVs and the trend has brought new condo developers and condo developments into Gold Canyon. Located near Apache Junction with convenient access to the Superstition freeway, Gold Canyon is convenient to the Valley's major cities. Prices remain fairly reasonable and everything caters to the active adult, retiree and winter visitor. Gold Canyon condo real estate is a reasonably priced alternative to more expensive age restricted communities and condominiums and while not formally restricted throughout, it is not family or child oriented.
