Carefree is located on the Northeastern edge of the Valley, North of Scottsdale going up the mountain toward Cave Creek. It was originally conceived as a master planned community at the end of the Second World War and the first buildings date from the nineteen fifties. With a median income twice that of the rest of the Valley, Carefree goes beyond upscale to wealthy. Carefree is a small, adult oriented community with a population of less than 4,000. Though there is no specific age requirement to live in Carefree, the median age is above 55. Carefree condos are not generally large, but are among the most luxurious in Arizona and the town features a relaxed easy style. Street names reflect the overall feeling of the town: Easy Street, Tranquil Trail, Ho & Hum Roads. The town motto is: "Home of Cowboys and Caviar, Where the Old West Meets the New." Carefree is home to the Boulders resort and exclusive shopping in the El Pedregal At The Boulders and the Los Portales Mall. There is no golf course in the town proper, but seven are available within ten miles.
The natural beauty of the high Sonoran desert is prized in Carefree and residents will show you how the natural rock formations change in color as the day progresses. While not a place to call attention to itself, Carefree has the world's largest sundial, pointed at the North star, and the highest percentage of restaurants, one for about every two hundred residents, in Arizona. Carefree is connected to the rest of the Valley by Tom Darlington/Scottsdale Road and by the Carefree Highway. It was not build or conceived for freeways or for high pressure, high intensity living. As one of the main streets attests, Carefree condominiums can be found on "Easy Street." Carefree real estate offers a luxurious adult condominium lifestyle in a semi-isolated and beautiful natural setting. Let CondoCompany.com show you the condominiums available in the "Home of Cowboys and Caviar." |
